The Pekin Park District is proud to announce the selection of Abi Almandinger as the district's next Executive Director. Her tenure commences on September 8th and follows the retirement of Cameron Bettin, who served in that position for 11 years.

Upon assuming her duties, Abi becomes the first female director in the park district’s nearly 125-year history!

Abi brings extensive nonprofit and municipal leadership experience, securing more than $1 million in grants, building community partnerships, and leading large-scale initiatives. As a Parks and Recreation Director, most recently the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Carthage, Missouri, she oversaw multiple facilities, managed more than $5 million in capital improvements, strengthened department operations, expanded programming, and improved financial sustainability. Her experience includes budget management, strategic planning, community engagement, staff leadership, grant development, and successfully navigating government and community partnerships.
