RIDING STABLES AT MCNAUGHTON PARK UNDER RENOVATION
SET TO REOPEN IN 2026–2027
The Riding Stables at McNaughton Park are currently closed as the facility undergoes significant renovations and improvements under new management. The Pekin Park District has announced that Dead Broke Ranch, LLC has officially taken over management of the property and is leading a comprehensive restoration effort designed to serve
the community for years to come.
A Long-Term Investment in Quality and Care
Since November 2025, Dead Broke Ranch has been focused on modernizing and restoring the stables with long-term safety, functionality, and growth in mind. Renovations include:
• New electrical and plumbing systems
• Improvements to barns and upgraded stall spaces
• Enhanced arenas and riding areas
• Updated fencing and turnout spaces
• Field improvements and reconfigured layouts
These upgrades are centered around creating an efficient, horse-first environment that prioritizes quality care, consistency, and thoughtful daily operations.
Boarding Services Coming Spring 2026
The first phase of reopening is anticipated in Spring 2026, when
boarding services will begin welcoming clients. Riders can expect
upgraded stalls, improved feed and tack areas, and a professionally
managed facility committed to steady horsemanship and dependable
care. This phase marks an important step toward reestablishing the stables as a trusted destination for local equestrians.
Public Trail Riding Planned for Spring 2027
Public trail riding operations are projected to launch in Spring 2027, once facility upgrades are complete and horse programs and trail routes are fully developed. By taking a phased and intentional approach, Dead Broke Ranch aims to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for riders of all levels.
