GYMNASTICS & CHEER CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
You with Me
A class for parents to enjoy spending quality time with their child and help them develop motor skills and coordination, important social skills such as listening, taking turns and following directions. While having fun, we provide children an opportunity to safely explore their environment and introduce them to physical activities.
Recommended for children without parent participation. We provide children an opportunity to safely explore their environment and introduce them to physical activities. Children will learn body positions and basic gymnastics skills. This is also a great environment to introduce children to important social skills such as listening, taking turns and following directions.
Focusing on further developing gross motor skills, body control and social interactions. Children begin to learn proper skill development, more gymnastics terminology and will begin to do more gymnastics skills independently. Your child will learn more of the fundamental gymnastics skills that facilitate a seamless transition into our instructional program. We will be working on forward rolls, backward rolls, strength training and flexibility.
This beginner class teaches the basic fundamentals of tumbling and learning the importance of stretching properly. Basic gym skills Include backward and forward rolls, handstands, back bends, bridges and cartwheels.
Level 1 is recommended, but not required. This class is designed for students who have mastered basic tumbling skills. We introduce front limbers, backbends to kick overs, walkovers and more. This class emphasizes strength and flexibility needed to move to Level 3.
Gymnasts must pass Level 2 and must be able to perform a front and back walkover independently. This class focuses on strength and conditioning needed to begin handsprings technique and proper form.
Students must be able to perform a back handspring independently on floor. We begin to put together combinations (3 series). Strength and flexibility conditioning will be intense. This class focuses on the basics of back tucks.
Gymnasts must have pre approval from lead instructor. Our emphasis is strengthening, flexibility and conditioning required for the higher level gymnasts. We will be perfecting tucks and whips.
NEW! LEVEL 6
This new class is designed for the highest level gymnast. We work on tucks, lay outs and multiple combinations. Be prepared to work hard and perfect all techniques. Stretching and conditioning will be a large part of this class due to the intense amount of strength needed for our Elite gymnasts.
Flip Flop Shop
For the most advanced tumblers and designed as a "workshop format". This hour is utilized on individual goals with more individualized instruction. Due to the degree of difficulties in this class, participants must be a member of a level four class or higher. All gymnasts must have mastered their back handspring or above. If you would like or need this extra help, please call DeDe or Nikki and make arrangements. Participants must be enrolled in another PPD class.
Got Spirit?! Cheerleading is 100% sport! Our top instructors will teach you cheers, jumps and tumbling in a fun, safe environment. Mini Cheer - Designed for the mini-cheerleader, ages 2-5. Cheer like a big girl! Step 1 Cheer - 6-7 yrs. are taught basic skills including arm motions, jumps, dance moves, cheers and basic tumbling skills. Step 2 Cheer - 8-9 yrs. will build confidence and teamwork will improving your flexibility and coordination. Power Cheer - is ideal for preparing cheerleaders for trouts in junior high or competitive teams. Come learn new motion techniques, stunts, jumps, cheers, tumbling and sideline chants.
* please note: Classes may be combined, moved, added or dropped dependent upon enrollment.
GYMNASTS: For your safety wear leotards or elastic waistband shorts with a tucked in t-shirt. Students are bare foot or can wear a non-skid tumbling shoe. Hair needs to be pulled back away from face. No blue jeans, please.
